The new Science of Scams website
I have a few friends and associates who are obsessed with psychics, ghosts, and all things supernatural. (You know the types, the ones who watch the ridiculous new shows on Discovery and The History channels.) Well, since I am very open with my skepticism, these people always call me to discuss the most recent Ghost Hunter episode. They always make me feel like the bad guy. It’s like I’m the kid who goes to the mall and yells, “Santa’s not real!” to the children waiting to sit in the imposter’s lap. Thank Godzilla, I have a new way to handle them.
Derren Brown and other internationally known skeptics have started a new site called, Science of Scams. Several months ago the team posted seven videos on YouTube that featured a different type of supernatural phenomena. Once each had attracted several believers, the team posted follow-up videos revealing the truth behind them and link to the new site. Here’s the introduction video from the site:
Science of Scams also features links to the original videos so you can post them on your personal site, and a Facebook plugin called The Accurate Horoscope/Personality Reader that can be used to show your friends the silliness of their beliefs.
