Weekly Rant: Billy Graham says atheism is a fad for fools

Billy Graham, is often sited as the standard by which all preachers should be judged. Anytime you speak with Christians about the foibles of the televangelists, they continually point to the untarnished Graham. Of course, this is not true.
For some reason, Billy Graham gets a pass for his controversies. As [...]

Sunday Fundies: What is a militant atheist?

Posted at June 28, 2009

One of my biggest pet peeves is the use of the term “militant atheist.” I have even heard atheists use it to describe Dawkins and Hitchens. I personally have received emails from fellow nonbelievers who say, “Unlike you, I am a lowercase a-theist.”
Has anyone ever gone out and done something vilolent after listening to a [...]

Quote of The Day

Posted at May 28, 2009

If atheism and religion were sex …
Atheism would be like masturbation – you know you’re there by yourself, but hell, you’re having a good time!
Religion would be like masturbating with a happy face drawn on your hand – it’s still only you, but you like pretending that you’re not alone.

The knowing of truth

Posted at May 28, 2009

Newsweek’s religion editor, Lisa Miller, has written:
The atheist writers Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens have presented us with a choice: either you don’t believe in God or you’re a dope. “It is perfectly absurd for religious moderates to suggest that a rational human being can believe in God, simply because that belief makes [...]

Are Atheists Elitists?

Posted at May 11, 2009

TPM blogger and open atheist, Ickyma, has posted a very thought provoking article entitled, “If the GOP is the Party of No, Atheism is the Philosophy of No.” This title does not represent his personal views. It is a quote from a post he read on Daily Kos.

I highly recommend reading the article. Ickyma discusses [...]

Brother Richard

I am a writer and public speaker living in Atlanta Georgia (the buckle of the Bible Belt).

Formerly, I was a fundamentalist minister, but now I spend my days building nontheist community, and encouraging others to "come out" of the atheist closet.
